I have a radio antenna that is grounded with 8 gauge wire to a ground rod directly below the antenna mast. The coax enters the house where the electric, phone, internet, and satellite tv lines enter. They are all grounded to a rod that is about 20 feet to the right of the antenna ground rod, except the antenna coax. I plan to install a ground block for the antenna coax, but it will not be connected to the antenna ground but the utility ground. Can I do this?
I also read that any ground rods must be bonded together. Can I run 8 gauge ground wire from the one rod to the other stapled along the wooden house siding?

I was told, where I purchased the radio, that I would only need to get a wire with two male ends (to hook into the cars antenna) to hook it up to the Mazda.... Where do I plug the end in to the car? For my other car I got the kit the plugs into the back of the radio ....But I was told that was very hard to do with the Mazda and that this male ended wire would be all that I would need......

Vehicle: 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited

Satellite radio in newer cars question?
Cars now a days come standard With either XM or Sirius (yes i know they are the same company now).

I purchased the lifetime subscription to Sirius satellite radio years ago. I would love to use that subscription in my new car, but all the newer cars that i am interested in offer XM satellite radio. I have contacted customer service and they told me that I could not use a Sirius subscription for an XM radio and vice versa.

My question is, is it possible to swap out the antenna, transceiver, or what ever is in the car from XM to Sirius if the car comes standard with XM? Or is this something i could haggle with the dealership to change?

I unplugged everything from the receiver, and then plugged everything back in exactly the way it was, and nothing. The headunit wont come on, and no sound comes out at all. Not sure what I did to it because everything is hooked up exactly how it was before, and still nothing. any suggestions? Fuses?

But, it looks like the previous owner added this function as there are two wires sticking out of the dash. My question is can i some how use those wires to install an axillary cable for my iPod? The two wires look to an antenna wire and a smaller headphone jack with only one black band around the end rather than two. Thanks for the help

I'm looking to upgrade to a new audio receiver for my home theater system and the Pioneer VSX-821 K seems to be the one that caught my eye the most and serves all of my needs perfectly. It's simply the best audio receiver for the price and the features it has.

Anyway, this receiver is Sirius satellite radio ready, and I was wondering what they mean by this? Would you buy a satellite radio receiver like you buy for cars and get a home kit to use it on this receiver? Or is there some sort of special antenna that you connect to the receiver that will allow you to use satellite radio on it after you get a subscription?

I'm wondering what they mean by this because I'm thinking you could set the receiver to Sirius and be able to change the station using the remote for the receiver and see what song is playing on the front panel display of the audio receiver or maybe even on the OSD coming from the receiver into my TV.

Does anybody know how this would work?
